Ellie Dodd

Hi, I'm Ellie and I've been part of the Baby Sensory Team in Melbourne since we first opened here in July 2016. I am a qualified Primary School teacher and have over a decade of experience working within the British and Australian education systems. Given my career choice it isn't surprising that I have always been passionate about learning and brain development in children, and the effect experiences have on their physical, social, emotional and intellectual development. In 2015 my husband Adam and I had a beautiful baby boy who we named Albi. Like most first time parents we really didn't have a clue what we were doing and sought advice, support and help from our family and friends. A resounding message from all of our British friends was, 'You must go to Baby Sensory classes. They're magical. You'll learn so much about how Albi is developing and it'll give you loads of ideas for games to play at home'. So I set off to find a local class. Imagine my disappointment when I realised the nearest one was in Adelaide! Fast forward and I am now a fully trained Baby Sensory Class Leader. The program is indeed magical and unlike any other programme. Through extensive training I have learnt that every single Baby Sensory activity has been created to promote connections within the brain that help support future physical, social, emotional and intellectual learning. Each week is different, with more classes designed than there are weeks to run them, so even if you start coming when your baby is just a few weeks old you will never experience the same class twice. We had our second baby at the end of 2017 and I loved every second of our five terms of Baby Sensory together (we started when she was just five weeks old). Participating in the classes as a Mumma made me appreciate our classes even more and fall in love with our magical program all over again. We had our third baby (mid stage 4 lockdown in 2020) and I again loved being in class and sharing all those magical experiences with her. The little business I started back in 2016 has now grown considerably and I now work alongside the most wonderful team of Class Leaders. Between us we run over 35 classes a week at 8 different locations and we all love sharing our magical Baby Sensory Programme with so many beautiful families.
